Do Bad Math Grades Affect Comp Sci Chances at UCs if SAT is high?

Hi,

I am a current junior and wanted to know if having some C’s in math and one C in Chemistry would severely hurt my chances into getting into the mid-tier and lower-tier UCs for computer science if I have a very high SAT score (2200+). I also will get a very high SAT 2 Math Lvl 2 as my practice scores are around 750 and I will practice a lot more in the upcoming month to the May SAT. The C’s in my Math and Science courses were in the schools more advanced/ honors courses.

C’s in any HS subjects could hurt your chances at the UC’s especially for CS which happens to be one of the more competitive majors. What is your UC GPA? http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

UCI/UCD/UCSB Average UC GPA of 4.05/4.07/4.03 Last year.
UCSC/UCR/UCM Average UC GPA of 3.82/3.77/3.61 Last year
Expect this years class 2015 of having even higher average GPA’s.
To be competitive for the UC’s and CS major, you need a good GPA/SAT score, interesting EC’s and outstanding essays. The SAT alone will not makeup for a less than stellar GPA.

You need to rethink your college list if your GPA does not meet or exceed the averages listed.

Thank You @Gumbymom for your input. I do have decent ECs and will try to do something more with what I have. I will also work on my essay and raising my SAT scores as well as trying to get my grades up higher before this semester ends. Thank You!
