Do bad standardized tests affect your acceptance to UT if you're still in the top 9%?

I'm going to be a senior next year, but my ACT/SAT scores aren't that good. I plan to retake both my senior year though.

I've gotten a 27 on the ACT & an 1800 on the SAT.
(I'm not really good at standardized testing :/)

However, I rank around the top 5% of my class and have a lot of extracurriculars. I was just wondering how much do my scores affect my chance of getting into UT?

I’m pretty sure it won’t affect you. You’ll get in anyway. (I think)

No, it won’t affect you for getting in to UT. It can affect you if you’re applying to something like McCombs/Plan II/Honors, though.

I think an 1800 SAT is around average… maybe slightly under average. You should be fine.

If you plan on getting into one of the more prestigious colleges like McCombs or Cockrell, that’s not going to cut it. But, yes, you will still be admitted to UT regardless of your SAT/ACT score.

Check out this link. Some past admissions data is here:

you will still be admitted into UT no matter what but if you go for a hard major like engineering or business you might not get into those programs without good scores.
