Do cc people who lie their stats on cc?

Hi. I was wondering if people on cc actually lie about their stats? I mean I hear so many people getting 4.5 2300s and blah blah blah. I have my doubts that all those people on cc would actually have such high stats. i mean sure some people would, but i dont think everyone on cc who claims to have these stats is being truthful. What do you all think?

See previous posts ad infinitum. (Some lie, most don't, CC's very self-selective, and so on...)

i personally think that most ppl tell the truth just because

a. it is waste of time if u rnt telling the truth, particularily if u are asking for your chances
b. most kids who go on CC are really driven, and are hoping to get into a top 25 college (i know there are some who don't, but this is why I said most not all) therefore their GPA and SAT scores are going to be high because they care enough to go to a great school as well as going onto to CC to check out what college life is about, how to get in, etc

To put it straight, are there some kids who r gonna lie? Yeah, there's no doubt about that, it's an online forum OF COURSE ppl are gonna lie, what else do you expect? But I personally think that most of them don't

(ok I'm done ranting)

Not too many people lie.. why would you lie if you want true chances?

Perhaps it is not so much lying as exaggerating a bit... I don't think that the stats (i.e. SAT scores, GPA) are the biggest culprits but rather ECs, Activities and maybe Awards. For example, it is extremely easy to overstate the importance of some activities and it is tempting to paint the best possible picture of that portion of the application in order to shine the brightest light upon oneself. I, myself, am not immune to the amplification bug, but I haven't really posted on here that much, so I don't count :o

Of course, I'm not saying it's purposefully trying to lie, I would characterize it more as a subconscious impulse. The majority of people, I firmly believe, resist this impulse successfully, but a few people (you know who you are) slip through the cracks.

see,

when CCer's ask you to chance them, they tell the truth.

After they get into a college, when others ask for their stats, they tend to fabricate a bit to make themselves look better..

C'mon, it's just human behavior!

What the hell is up with all these posts about this all of the sudden? NO, some may lie, but not all. Realize that there are some truly awesome people here on CC, because this site tends to attract strong students.

If you feel jealous or inadequate, you'll just have to get over the fact that there are better applicants out there than you. (I aim this at no one in particular.)

if you think about it, there really is no point in lying, since people here don't know who you are anyway, so why not just tell the truth and know where you REALLY lie.

^^ My sentiments precisely. It won't help to lie...

"know where you REALLY lie."

haha nice pun. xD
