Do college administrations keep your profile even after they reject you?

Hi, I actually graduated in 2012 from high school and am taking 2 gap years because of conscription in my country (I live in Taiwan, but I graduated from an American international school in Malaysia). I first applied for some schools in 2011 just like all the other seniors in my school, but decided at the beginning of 2012 to serve in the army first (just one year) so I didn’t apply to any other schools. I still got rejected by the three schools that I applied to ( (UC Davis, UCLA, OSU, which I expected since they are all reach schools[except for ohio state] and I didn’t apply to my safe and backup schools since I made my decision about the army). So now it’s the beginning of 2013 and I plan to start applying to schools again this coming september for the fall semester 2014 while I am still in the army (my term starts in April or May), and I would still like to apply to Ohio State with my improved resume (better SAT, ECs,…etc.). So my question is that do they keep a profile of every applicant even those who got rejected?

Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance.

And I just realised I may have posted in the wrong forum. Sorry~

I think so. Some colleges have a “Have you ever applied to university name previously?”

Anyway, it could only help. Better SAT scores and you can use your army experience as the personal statement!
