Do college admissions dislike someone who decides to switch sports during high school?

I played varsity basketball during 9th and 10th. I plan to do a different sport during 11th and 12th. Will that hurt my application because it shows I wasn’t fully committed to a sport, or does it look better because it shows variety? Any help is appreciated!

It doesn’t really go either way. Do what makes you happy.

Agree with JustOneDad. You aren’t a recruited athlete so your sport is just one EC like any other. Lots of people add/drop ECs throughout high school based on their waxing/waning interests and admins expect that. And by the way, your ‘commitment’ is to sports/athletics in all forms - not just basketball - so that seems pretty consistent to me. Don’t define your interest so narrowly.
