Colleges do keep application files for quite a while after each admission season. Every once in a while, a student who has already enrolled has his or her admission rescinded if a lie is discovered in the application file. In extraordinary cases, a student who has already graduated could have his or her degree revoked by a college for fraud in the application process, although examples of this are rare.
