Do college teachers teach you how to do everything required in the class?

I have chemistry thursday and friday for close to an hour each day. Do they teach you how to do everything or are you forced to learn stuff on your own. Im a little afraid because im used to teachers teaching me how to do all the mathematical equations and stuff. The stuff in the book doesn't explain the stuff really well.

You can always go in to their office for help… but teaching yourself is a very valuable skill in college.

It really depends on the format of the class. You’ll always be expected to know the requisite knowledge for the course (if you need say, Calc 1 for your class, don’t expect the professor to teach you Calc 1 concepts,) but for new material, it will typically either be taunt by the professor, or covered in assigned readings. In some of my classes we’ll get 50-60 pages of reading to do per night, and though we might not discuss in class a certain concept, we’re supposed to draw our understanding from the articles.

EDIT:
ALSO
Chem is hard, lots of people have trouble with it. Look around a little, if you’re having trouble I’m sure there are study groups set up to cover issues you might be having. My school actually has a “Math Lab” (as well as for a few other disciplines) where GTA’s can do additional work study.

o btw i am taking a chem class for the health sciences and its only 1 semester. chem 101 (general, organic, biochem) 5 credits
