Do college that accept you receive a copy of your diploma, or just your transcripts?

Most college websites say they if they accept you, they want your "Official Academic Records."

Does this mean that they only want your complete transcripts, or will they also request a copy of your diploma?

If they only want your transcripts, do your transcripts have to indicate that you've already graduated, the year and month, etc?

I'm asking because I'm an international student and I have no counselor. I have to gather all the material from school myself and mail it out. If someone can tell give me an answer I will be very thankful!

Your official transcript should list your degree and the month/year that it was earned (basically your graduation date). That being said, there is no need to send in a copy of your diploma unless your application checklist specifically states that you need to submit a copy (haven’t seen this case yet).

Your transcript, which indicates the date you graduated from secondary school. Further, they are unusually much more authoritative than your diploma per se, since it include grades received for specific courses, sometimes standardized test results, and frequently an impressed seal that is difficult to forge.

Thanks!

Diploma is just ceremonial. Transcript is the legal document.
