How would colleges actually check your ECs? I heard that they look at recommendations. I did dance for the past 3 years but none of teachers or people at school know about it. would they think i was lying?
Why would you think the school’s faculty should know about it?
You should have been asked to submit a profile of who you are, with spaces for listing aspects of your character and activities, strengths, challenges and accomplishments that you provide to the guidance counselor to help the counselor better write about you.
As long as you know you are not lying, no one else will even doubt it. As for checking, yes, sometimes they do check, but they would contact the organization with whom you claimed to do the activity, and not your high school.
I think they only check if something in your application is absolutely through the roof (You got First place at Intel) or if something looks suspicious on your application (President of 10 Clubs, 60 hours a week worth of EC’s).
Otherwise, they take your word for it so you don’t have to worry.
oh okay. i just thought that since no body at my school knew about it none of my teachers could write about it in my recommendations
