Hi guys, like the title says, do colleges admit you by comparing your app to those in your area (giving advantage for lower-income ppl with less opportunities. Also cuz I think compared locally to my school or county, I’d stand out but not against like everyone yknow) or compare you to all other applicants across the nation? Like do you guys know the policy for UC vs. USC, Claremont Colleges, Stanford, Caltech, Yale, MIT, Princeton?
Thank you!
You have to be qualified, regardless. So if you’re the best at your high school but still not a good fit, your location and SES won’t overcome that. But if you are, it will definitely help. One concern top schools have is whether you can do the work. So anything you can do to demonstrate that you can will be to your advantage.
