Do colleges care about the number of detentions you have?

I got like 3 detentions and im a sophmore...if it helps, 1 was for skipping a teachers detention and 2 were for having a phone in class. Does it make a difference on your college admissions?

College Admissions forum ; )

not unless it turns into a suspension. at my school its something like 10 or 15 and you get suspended if its your first time getting that many.

It may not even be on your record. I got MIPed and I was told it would f*** me up for college but it wasn’t even on my transcript.

I got dt’s for being late to first bell. I still was initiated into Cum Laude Society (which is like, a more elite NHS, I think), which is half about good citizenship, and still considered a model student by my teachers. Colleges never knew because dt’s aren’t worth reporting.

I hope not.

I racked up far too many dress code violations this year.

Usually no, unless it’s for academic or legal violations, in which case they’ll usually be in the form of suspensions anyway.

Detentions for tardiness, dress code, technological misuse, or minor accounts of disobedience are expected and ignored. Cheating on an exam and receiving a suspension for it will be viewed accordingly.

Check your transcript and see if it shows. If it doesn’t, you’re in the clear.
