okay so for some reason, the electives I signed up with were cut off, and they didn't have space for them so instead they replaced it with study halls. I originally signed up for 6.0 Sociology and 6.0 Environmental Science.

So i started crying because i thought colleges will think i'm lazy for having a full period of lunch and 2 full periods of study halls everyday.

I'm not looking to go to an ivy league; I know I can't make it. However, I am at least looking towards a 2nd tier college.

My schedule is all the required electives like gym, and health, etc.
My courses are only AP English, APUSH, AP Psyc, 5.0 Pre-Calc, 6.0 Chemistry. 2 study halls every day. And lunch.

This is my junior year schedule.

Other students have their schedule chalk full of classes, and a lot of them even skip their lunches to have even more classes.

My sophmore and freshman year were all 6.0s, no APs, and they were all filled, so no study halls.

Will colleges think I'm lazy? I was extremely upset when i found out all my electives were switched for free periods.

Wouldn't that be wasted time though, since I could have had a class and fill up that wasted time... sigh..

I'm super mad... I don't know what happened to my schedule... I know signing up for them wouldn't be a guarantee to get in, but I didn't consider it happening to me..

I completed my foreign language requirement already, and I just got my schedule today. The deadline for choosing and changing courses was on June. Apparently the electives I chose were filled so they switched my periods to study halls… The only time I can talk to them is in September but most likely nothing would change. =/

1 period of study hall is mandatory…

however, since Japanese class lacks in members and is about to shut down, anyone can join if they want to. i’d just have to talk to the japanese teacher and she’ll write a letter… Should I switch my study hall for Japanese, which is a 5.0 course, even though it’ll be like a fluff class and a waste of time since its a 5.0 and i already finished my language requirement…?

My parents tried to console me by saying just use all those study halls for SAT and ACT studying… because I was really mad at the school for taking me out of the classes I chose and giving me too many study halls…

Most colleges don’t expect all APs. Maybe Ivy League, but not most of the others. You’ve taken plenty of APs, and it sounds like Japanese is an honors class. Don’t sweat it.

Alright thank you so much SansSerif and everyone else. I was really worried about having too many study halls (and looking lazy to colleges) and the only other option would be to take random classes that are being cut (cause our school is cutting a lot of things because of budgets…)…

and sorry CSIHSIS! I forgot other people don’t use the same system my school uses.

so i’ve decided to join japanese to help the class and teacher from being cut… though i really wanted to do the electives i chose but oh well… can’t do anything about it…=/

I would switch one of them to some elective or a random class (maybe psych, that is supposed to be a good class). Personally I feel like having two study halls implies that you are incapable of doing your homework without an absurd amount of time and/or are lazy. Try and switch one to some class even if it is a blow-off class.

thanks ArtsyGirl13, I had originally filled up my whole schedule, and even replaced my lunch with a class, but the scheduling department took me out of the classes i chose.
