So about 30 students are applying to Emory from my school. Emory is my first choice, and I know some of those students that are applying are a lot better than me. I'm really worried. Do colleges set a limit to how many people they accept from a high school? Will that many people applying to Emory affect my chances of getting in?

Yes, your peers are your first and foremost line of competition.

Yes and yes. Apply early if aid allows.

Yea, they compare you to your peers. In my case, though, if only like 3-5 people from my school apply to MIT, would I stand a greater chance? I think I am pretty competitive compared to the other 3-4 people applying.

I know for UT-Austin there are four of us…I beat the others SAT/ACT by atleast 140 points (for ACT equivilent) and that my EC’s and GPA are better…however i dont think they meet the UT middle 50% so I don’t think it is going to help me
