Do colleges consider only your highest scores?

I just took my SAT at the beginning of March and just got the scores back. I was thinking about taking it again in the fall because I'm hoping to get my CR up a bit...so I was curious.

I know that colleges see all your scores, but do they usually base their decision just on you highest score for each section (like, if you take it twice but do better on M the first time but better on CR the second time, will they take the best score for each?) or will they look at your highest test score overall? Does it vary from college to college?

I'm sure there's been other threads on this (I tried to search for one, but there were too many results to wade through), so if anybody could link me to one, that would be fine too. :)

It varies. Most colleges look at your best for each section. I think some of the UC's only look at your best sitting.

The academies also only look at one specific sitting, but most of the schools in the north east are superscored.

hey i took the sat frosh year and soph year cold turkey, you guys think this might hurt me?
I took the SAT twice this year. One was a bad score the other one was a decent score (2250). I ain't taking any more SAT 1.
