do colleges consider this?

does it matter to adcoms if your parents are not educated? does that add to your application?

also, i noticed in the chances forum that high schools are classified by type like "sends kids to top schools" or w/e. i come from a public school which rarely sends kids to top schools and i was wondering if that would possibly add to an application since youd be pushing yourself to excel in an environment that is less demanding of the students.

last couple of questions. =] im planning to apply to hopkins and am hopefully going to get accepted to the discover hopkins program. though this is definitely NOT the reason im applying, would this help my chances at hopkins? i notice on this year's app that there is a part that asks if youve every participate in a hopkins program. how would other schools im applying to feel about it and would it be looked at as "just another kid whose parents are paying to get into programs"?

thanks!

1st generation? yes they do.
