Ok so at my school our GPAs are unweighted and on a % scale instead of the 4 or 5 point scale. I know that colleges will unweight your grades when considering your application, but I know that they also look at class rank and the fact that my school doesn't weight grades really affects our class rank. I'm a senior this year, I've taken several APs throughout high school, I'm taking 6 more this year and my rank is 18/422. However, the current number 1 has taken like 3 AP classes total (including the ones for this year), and outside of those she takes free 100% classes, such as all the different band and choir classes we have. Considering how many students go nuts on the AP classes at my school, I know that if our GPAs were weighted, she would be struggling to make the top 10%. Would colleges take this into consideration since it affects our class rank so much? My main concern is merit scholarships that have class rank requirements.

They use your UW GPA in consonance with your class rigor. There are some schools that will look at class rank more than anything else (TX public Us). Look at the Common Data Set for details section C.

Class rank is provided by your HS whichever way they determine it. The college would not have all the data to re-determine your class rank.
