<p>Probably not, unless you are a recruited athlete or say you are planning on majoring in physical education. Many (perhaps most) selective shools recalculate an academic GPA for admissions, which whould not include physical education.</p>
<p>Vast majority of colleges ignore phys ed and its grade for the purpose of determing your GPA for admission. That likewise applies to things like health class, vocational sudies and drivers ed. Most of your high ranked schools consider grades only in the core college ed courses: language, English, math, social studies, and lab sciences.</p>

<p>My D was always low on gym grades, it didn't seem to make any difference in her case! Sports and fitness can be an advantage if it's one of your strengths, otherwise it doesn't matter if you have other (academic or artistic) strengths.</p>
