Do Colleges even consider my application??

I'm currently a senior. I have low SAT score. I'm international student with I-485 which means green card in process. I have been living in US for nine years.

I'm applying to UNC, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Elon, Wake Forest, JMU, University of Illinois-urbana, NC State, Boston U, GWU.

My GPA up to Junior year is 3.742 weighted and my GPA up to my senior year is about 3.89 weighted. I'm in top 20%.

My highest SAT score is 1760 R-490, M-730, W-540.
My Math II score is 700

I got 83 on my TOEFL in 2008.

Junior-Senior I took 6 AP classes and took about 10 Pre-AP classes which are like Honors but they are not weighted.

I'm in Math Club (Vice President) and I'm co-founder of North Virginia Math Competition. (4 years)

I'm in FBLA (have a leadership position). (2 years)

I'm in Interact Club. (2 years)

I volunteer at NVTC and Library. I have like 100 hours combined.

I tutored people in Algebra and Algebra II.

So here are my questions
-Do colleges even look at my application?? I'm wondering because I have low reading score for International student.
-Do I have any chance getting in to any of the schools I posted??
-Will good essay help my chance to getting in??
-Should I even bother sending my TOEFL score to the schools because it is kind of low?
-Which school do I have best chance of getting in?

Please help. Thank You.

Of the schools I know UNC, Elon, Wake and NC State. The only one that will look beyond your SAT/GPA (and therefor the only one of the 4 that will likely consider you) is Elon. You may not qualify on paper but who cares, I’ll bet if you go visit in person and explain yourself they will listen and see if they have a place. They will be looking for passion to help others and not just SAT’s. The fact that they are trying to attract internationals and want 100% of students to study internationally before graduating ELON should work in your favor.

Just to clarify - Wake will consider applications without SAT/ACT tests, but I think your (GPA / class rank) would need to be much higher to be accepted without the standardized tests.

I think you should try and show that you are a very hard worker and that you have more motivation than they may think. Also yes, a strong essay could definitely help. So I say just keep trying to do the best you can, and show colleges what you can really do. Good luck!
