<p>I was wondering whether elite colleges have their own system for calculating GPA? I currently have a 3.9uw and the reason i don't have a 4.0uw is because of two B's that I got in gym during freshman year. Will colleges only count academic classes to level the playing field b/c most of the schools surrounding our hs discount electives such as gym, band, art etc.</p>
<p>Yes, they do, and I didn't find any two that did counted alike when looking at the colleges to which my grandchild applied. Many eliminate all courses that are not Math, English, Social Studies, Foreign Language, or Science - including some fairly complex Computer Science Courses. Some give extra credit for gifted, honors, and AP level and some don't. And some one count more than one English course in a semester.</p>
<p>my hs certainly doesnt count gym into your gpa. and thank god as im failing it. we still count art and band though. do you go to a public or private?</p>
<p>^ I will never understand how people fail P.E. I mean, all you have to do is dress out and pretend like you care.</p>
<p>Some schools have a much higher standard of PE- it's not the same across the board.</p>
