Does the Online Common App or some other institution do that?

Do colleges get any information at all regarding the number of places the applicant is applying to?

Certainly the Common App Online needs to track the number of applications to keep it below its required 20 limit (is that right?) But is this information shared with any other institutions?

Thanks in advance for the info :D

CommonApp doesn’t share that information, though some schools may ask you on the application to list other schools you’re applying to. The general rule is to leave that question blank.

Yeah, I think CommonApp would have some serious privacy issues if they shared that info.

20 is not a limit. There’s no limit as to how much college you can apply to. In theory, you can apply to 50 colleges or more.

on the commonapp 20 is a limit for one account (so its not like you can have 40 on two different versions, its a max for the account itself)

I remember reading but it could be totally untrue was colleges could see either where else the FAFSA was sent to or where you sent score reports I forget which one. I find it hard to believe, but I read it on CC (but like the internet that doesn’t make it true).

^^Yes, the belief that other schools can see where you sent your FAFSA has been on CC for a long time now. I’m not sure of the origin or whether or not it’s true. We always listed colleges in alphabetical order, just in case.

However, the FAFSA will be sent to the Fin Aid office, not the Admissions Office, will the offices co-ordinate and inform eachother about this information? I doubt it would happen :P

For need aware schools they could.
