I took the October SAT for the first time last year as a Junior and

Took it again in March. I was not confident about the test even at the testing site since I've not really studied for it ever since, and I was in the crappiest condition.

Not surprisingly,, I rushed bunch of answers on one of the reading sections, so I had to go back at the last moment to fix, with like 3~4 questions left unanswered.

I screwed up on the essay section, and I already know I got at most an 8 if i am lucky.

But I am pretty confident on math and writing m/c

So my question here is.. Do colleges really care how many times I take the SAT? Since I plan on taking it again on June and October, that would be 4 times.

If they do care, should I cancel my score if I kinda have a feeling that my score did not improve, if not depreciated?

The answer to this question is “depends”. Some colleges will know all your scores, some won’t depending on their “score-choice” preferences (check the collegeboard score choice pdf for these preferences). Generally, you can use score-choice to only report scores you want colleges to receive (however, colleges will still know the scores of the tests you listed them as one of the 4 recipients to receive scores free of charge regardless of your score-choice options). However, some colleges will require you to send all scores.

If they require you to send them all in and you leave one out, it won’t be pretty when they find out… especially if you haven’t cured cancer haha good luck:)

I’m curious…how can colleges find out that you’re withholding a score?
For example, I know UCs require applicants to submit every score, but is there a mechanism that explicitly prevents me from withholding a score or otherwise could indicate that I am?

Thanks silverturtle!
On a side note, your grammar guide is absolutely brilliant. It has made the ACT english section incredibly simple; I get my SAT scores back on thursday, and anything over 700 on writing can be attributed directly to you.
