Do colleges know your school?

A lot of my senior friends from last year said that colleges know how hard our school is. I just wanted to know if anyone knew if this was true.

I go to a challenging private school and it is HARD, the college counselors joke and say that there are only three levels of curriculum hard,Harder, and HARDEST with the hardest being the
AP, IB, or mixture of the two (which is what I do), and not a lot of people get 4.0's (except the ones who rank 6th in the world in math and such), so I wanted to know if colleges know this when you apply. Are those the region representative people that know this?

"Are those the region representative people that know this? " That’s what they are paid to do.

Plus, your counselor-sent school report will contain lots of info for admissions officers.

Ask your counselor. I know at my school the guidance counselors meet with the HYP regional officers every year to talk about that year’s students, so I assume they are very familiar with our school (and I go to a normal public school with just a handful of HYP admits each year, not some magnet/boarding school). My guess is that is practice is normal, but asking them would give you the most definitive answer.
