Just out of curiousity, do colleges look at your scores from individual testings or do they take the best from each testing? It makes a pretty big difference to me :).

Yeah, I have some crazy trends... especially if you look at the CR :(.

Test 1: 700M 800CR 630W
Test 2: 800M 700CR 700W
Test 3: 760M 670CR 800W

The best from one sitting is a decent 2230, nothing spectacular from what I've seen on CC though... However, my if you take the best from each, it's a 2400 :).

Just to put some perspective on my situation, I'm looking into a couple of top schools (some HYPSM, etc.) and a couple of state safeties (lower UC's) - yeah, I know HYPSM probably = reaches either way :).

I don't think there is as much concern placed upon the combined score as with the individual scores. I think colleges look at the highest score from each section (m, w, & cr)...so you would have 800 math, 800 writing, 800 critical reading. I would count it as a 2400!

Anyone know what Texas A&M looks at? Most schools will mix and match, but I know the University of Texas only wnats the best from 1 sitting. I ask becasue A&M admits you automaticlaly if youre top quarter and break 1300, and I do break it if I can mix and match

Schools realize that your performance on SATs vary from test to test. With your scores (an 800 in each), you will be a very competitive applicant because you have proven that you could get a perfect score in each. Regardless of whether they look a a highest composite or each sitting seperately, they can't avoid the fact that you got an 800 in each subject.

I made a mistake. 600M/W on my first test. I dunno where I got the other M/W score on the first test from lol. I guess it still doesn't affect the 2400 though..

Vyse,
I didn't really do that much studying... just problems from the blue book, so I can't really say what I did/didn't...

I thought CB made it clear on their online registration page that mixing and matching is not allowed anymore? That when you send the score report it shows up to 8(?) of the previous testings.

The score report CB sends includes up to 6 SAT I and 6 SAT II administration scores, but most colleges will only consider your highest score in each individual section (with the exception of places like the UC's and UT-Austin)

The Office of Admissions will consider your one highest composite score either SAT or ACT from any single test date. There is no minimum score needed for an applicant to be considered for admission, and no score by itself, no matter how high, guarantees admission to any applicant.
