do colleges look at non-highest math & verbal scores?

most colleges claim to combine highest math & highest verbal.
do they really?

my highest composite is 1530, but highest on one date is 1460:
june: 780M + 630V = 1410
october: 710M + 750V = 1460

i'm applying for math, and english is my 4th language. should i retake in january (for harvard & princeton) in hope of getting 800M + 700V = 1500?

"english is my 4th language", what are your first three languages, just wondering....

bump bump bump

i too am trying to parse your statement "english is my 4th language"

most private colleges will indeed take the highest indivdual test score from different test dates, but some state schools, like the UC's, for example, will only take the highest scores from an individual sitting. Take a look-see at the websites of the schools you are considering. Their policy is usually stated clearly.
