Hi, I just took the SAT Chinese with Listening Test. I did pretty good on it considering I’m not a native speaker, and got a 760. However, due to the immense amount of native speakers who take the test, when looking at my score report I noticed that I was in the 25th percentile. I’m assuming this is because of how many people get perfect scores on the exam. I am planning on taking at least 1-2 more SAT subject tests of which I have been studying hard for and am confident will get a good score on. I would just like to know if the low percentile will have any affect on how colleges view my SAT Chinese score and whether or not it will be damaging in any way.
No.
Do you really think that AO’s have the luxury of time that they are all sitting on the floor crossreferencing percentile charts? I don’t.
Don’t focus on percentiles. The percentiles for most Subject Tests are depressed because few colleges require/request them. The ones that do are generally the elite ones with low admissions rates anyway. As a result, the students who sit for these exams are very self selecting.
