Do colleges look at the ACT composite score or the combined english/writing score?

I recently took the ACT with writing, receiving a composite score of 34 and a combined english/writing score of 32. My dream is to go to Stanford, so I’m currently debating whether to retake the test in an attempt to obtain a higher english/writing score.

Either way, there’s no reason for you to retake. I think most schools will look at your composite score and then look at your essay score separately.
