I'm a rising senior and took AP US History my junior year. I just got my score today. I didn't send it to any schools yet. Do AP scores affect the odds of admission? If it does, how important are the scores? Thanks a lot.

I think generally, what everyone is saying is that it’s used primarily for reference for admissions to look at, indicating grade inflation/grade deflation if there is a discrepancy between your grades and your AP scores. I’ve heard a few other things around, but I think its just misinformation.

On this topic, however, I’d like to know how 4s are looked at? I’ve received 4s on every single AP I’ve taken (I’ve never received a different score). I’m not applying to HYPSM, but I am applying to a lot of top 20 schools. How are 4s viewed by the admissions at these types of schools? I’ve heard so many different, contradictory things on CC so far, regarding this topic.

The only sure way for either of your questions to be answered correctly is to email, call, visit, (something) a college or university and ask admissions. They’re more than happy to talk to an AP student, don’t worry about that.
