I am going to retake a class I got a F in this year next year so I can take that off in my transcript... It is my senior (5th year) year next year I want to be able to send my first semester grades for that year.

My problem is that I don't understand why people say your senior year is not really looked at by colleges. Doesn't first semester end in jan. and the application due date around march?

I want them to see my first semester grades of my senior year, is that possible? I am applying at regulary universities, nothing like harvard...

Anyone who says that is wrong. The vast majority of applications ask you to list the courses you are/will be taking in your senior year. Unless you’re on an early action plan, the vast majority of schools will ask you to send a transcript halfway through your senior year before they make a decision. Your GPA and rank through the end of junior year is more important, but they definitely consider your courseload and grades from senior year.

Even if they don’t ask for a mid-year report, as some smaller colleges might not, you can still send one if you believe it will make you look better.

When reviewing your application for admission, colleges use your official HS transcript through the end of your junior year. They use your senior midterm transcript to see that you’ve maintained your grades/rigor and haven’t succumbed to a case of senioritis.
Once you’ve been accepted to a college, you will most likely have to send them your official final HS transcript. If your final HS transcript shows a drastic drop in grades from your junior year and/or midterm senior transcript grades, they can rescind (take away) their initial offer of acceptance.

So if I send them my transcript with my 2nd semester senior grades which replaces a F I got my junior and improving my gpa from my junior year to a 3.0 it will be ok? What I mean is that do they look at your overall GPA being affected by your 2nd semester senior year and the F being replaced by an A your senior year? Otherwise if they only consider my grades up to my junior year, my GPA will be below a 3.0 and I will have a F in one of my classes.

I understand it will look better but dI want to know for sure if they really consider it.

btw, my GPA avg. for my junior and senior year is about a 3.6, it’s my first two years that really hold back my GPA.

Well, it’s good that there’s an upward trend in your grades. That will help a ton.
