Do colleges look at your senior year grade?

Before I go on, I know that grades are important, and that I should try really hard to stay on top off my school work and not get senioritis. I'm a rising senior, by the way.

I am planning on applying to schools early, and I know that early decision/early action deadline is typically early November.

My school goes by semester, so our report cards don't come back until the last week of January.

Does that mean when I'm applying to schools early, my senior year GRADES don't matter as far as application goes, and that they will only look at my freshman to junior grades when they're deciding? I know that I could get kicked out of the school after getting in if I don't maintain my grades, but my question is purely about the application.

If you apply ED, they will make their decision based on the grades that are available at that time (fr thru jr years), but will want to receive your mid-year and final grades. For RD, colleges take your mid-year grades into consideration as well when evaluating your application.

They’re going to matter if you’re deferred or denied at your ED or EA college(s).

It happens.
