Do colleges look down on regular classes?

I slacked off and let personal problems get in the way of my grades during my freshmen and sophomore year and ended up with a 2.1 GPA. I am now in my junior year and have maintained a GPA that is around 3.3-3.4 but the only “high-level” classes I’m taking are CP English 11 and Adv. Spanish 4.

I only have A’s and B’s and have left behind my bad habits but even though my counselor said he will write me a letter of recommendation for Penn State, I’m afraid I have no chance

Additional Information:
-I am enrolled in some advanced and AP classes for next year
-I am bilingual
-My dad works for the university
-Most students in my high school go to Penn State (University Park) because it is in this area
-The recommended GPA for Penn State is a 3.0
-I have been involved in school clubs
-Play guitar???

It’s probably out of your reach. Even though you have gotten a 3.4 GPA, you don’t have a rigorous schedule, and you don’t seem to have many hooks either.

What are your test scores?

Since you are lower on the academic scale, I would suggest beign strong in your sat and act aswell as ur ec and essays

If he a junior, getting those EC’s is a bit late.

EC’s= Extra Curricular activities
