Hi I realize there are a couple schools which require the SAT. But as for those who require the SAT or the ACT, I was under the impression that it wouldn't hurt your chances if you only took one. However, I've seen a lot of admissions to schools where people take both. I've only taken the ACT and I'm not sure I'd do too well with the SAT's format.

But does not taking both tests automatically translate to some of the upper tier colleges as lazy? Would it be better for me to take the SAT even if I'm sure my scores wouldn't be that great?

No schools require the SAT. The ACT is acceptable to all. Some still require SAT IIs.

Some schools are SAT/ACT optional. However, as a rule, it's probably a good idea to take both, and to take a couple of SAT IIs. That way, you have your choice of what to send depending on which scores are in your favor.

There are way more than a couple of schools-- there are hundreds! But they will also take the ACT scores-- no schools just require the SAT. And, they certainly don't look down on you if you take the ACT instead. It's fine, either way.

The only advantage to taking both the ACT and SAT is, a franglish said, to have a choice of scores to send. By no means will you be disadvantaged for taking only one or the other.

yeah but all colleges see your sat scores, so...

is it true that the ACT is easier then the SAT though?

it depends on the person. I personally prefer the SAT because the math is easier and there is no science portion.

it might serve you well to do the SAT b/c so many colleges accept it

after conditioning myself to the SAT format/style it was hard with the ACT

^ Many colleges also accept the ACT, so it really doesn't matter.
