I'm going on an interview Monday for an Optometry internship, which is the field I want to pursue a career in. Do colleges take those with internships more serious?

ive got the same question, anyone wanna answer

(Free bump)

I'd also like to hear the answer to this. I'm planning to intern either with an international nonprofit or law firm, and I'm hoping that a glowing LOR from it would give me a "hook."

well, I mean, yeah, it's a good thing. But honestly, almost everyone I know at my college did internships in high school. It is helpful, but it's far, far from a hook, unless it's something REALLY big (RSI, etc.)

Thanks mochamaven
any other input?

Is RSI extremely highly regarded? I'm only going into my sophmore year but I think I might like to apply someday. It's really amazing enough to be considered a hook?

It won't really set you apart from other applicants, but it'll definitely be a huge help. It's work experience and passion combined into one.

However, it's often healthy to put college admissions aside. The experience from the internship itself is likely to justify doing it. You'll probably gain invaluable personal experience thru an internship.

Yes, if it's not one your mom or dad got for you.
