<p>With that income, you should be able to qualify for the free and reduced lunch program at your school. That will be the easiest way to fill requirement number one for the Automatic 0 EFC. Requirement #2 should already be filled. Given that, an Automatic 0 EFC does NOT take into account your parent’s or your assets or your income, so the retirement account won’t matter. However, if the schools you are applying to require the PROFILE, the institutional EFC probably will take into account that retirement account. I would definitely recommend using the Collegeboard’s institutional EFC calculator.</p>

<p>geneveive, check the exact qualifications at the bottom of page 4 of the formula guide link I gave you. You do need to meet at least one of the qualifications listed under item 1 in addition to meeting the income qualification.</p>
