Do colleges notify the HS if a student is accepted?

I was wondering if high schools' counseling departments get a notification that one of their students is accepted to a college, or if the communication is limited to the student and the college.

Formally, no. But you can imagine the scenario where a principal/guid counselor knows a specific admissions officer and the topic comes up for discussion.

I don’t think so.

At Ds high school, the students self-report if they are admitted or denied so that the guidance office can enter it into the naviance system. I don’t think colleges contact schools directly, but like T26E4 stated, I’m sure there are conversations between gc’s and adcoms.

Georgetown did. Son applied EA. His HS GC knew of his acceptance the same day that we did.
