Do colleges only look at cumulative GPA

I failed a class freshman year but made it up. my gpa freshman was 2.7/2.8, soph 3.25/3.3, junior 4.0/4.5. I had some family issues freshman and most of soph year but now that those were dealt with I finally was able to concentrate on school.

If i repeated junior year and get another 4.0/4.7 (took 3 AP's junior, taking 4 AP's senior) my cumulative GPA would be 3.5 uw/3.8 w

Do colleges only look at that number?

On some applications, if you indicate improvement over the course of your HS career, it might help you out.

Both GPA’s are looked at, cumulative and junior year have the most value.
