I sent really bad test scores and was wondering if admissions would still see them if I sent better ones later…
Some schools require you to send all scores. Many superscore. If the school requires all scores and you only send the highest they will know and it will be an automatic rejection.
The only way the colleges will know if you are hiding any scores is if they appear on your high school transcript (some schools do that).
Therefore, Delete the scores officially from your ACT record. ACT will then notify your high school that your score is no longer valid and to remove them from its HS records.
Your scores are your records. ACT will only release the scores with your permission.
^^Please don’t do this. It’s dishonest, immoral, and likely when/if colleges find out about this you’ll be at risk and so will future applicants at your school.
I’m confused. Before I took the ACT I check marked 3 colleges I wanted the ACT to send the scores. A school recently emailed me saying that they received them…
Don’t they already have the scores?
@Bluecatch If you have already sent them, that ship has already sailed for those schools.
It is neither dishonest or immoral to cancel scores. You can cancel them so any other colleges on your list will not receive them.
Nothing dishonest or immorality about deleting your scores. You would be a dummy not to take advantage of the rules that are there for everyone.
I have already sent the scores, how would deleting them help? I got an email from a college stating that they have already received them.
You Cannot do anything at this point about what you already sent. But you can prevent additional colleges from receiving these scores.
How “bad” where they? Things get skewed in this board sometimes.
Agree with above posters there is nothing illegal or immoral about canceling. Trust me people do it all the time.
I have a similar question regarding SAT scores. I took the SAT twice and ACT twice and did significantly better on both ACT tests than the SAT tests. I’m also planning on taking Subject tests, so would I be able to only send my ACT and Subject tests scores without colleges seeing my SAT scores?
@Griffbaum Unless the school requires your “complete testing history”, send the scores that present you in the best light.
