Do colleges prefer one over the other.

I'm a rising senior, and the time has come for class office and SCA to be elected. I've been a class officer every year, but want to run for SCA. Do colleges (the Ivys and upper end schools) frown down upon the other leadership positions other than president? I want to run for president, but there's another powerful person running for that. Would vp not be as glamorous to schools when they get my application next year? Thanks for the help.

Colleges know that student council positions are largely a matter of being popular, not true leadership. When was the last time any student council ever did anything? Unless your student council has actually done something that wasn’t predesignated, then you haven’t lead, you’ve merely filled the position. Don’t overestimate being a class officer as being the road to anywhere unless you follow up with something noteworthy.
