Do colleges prefer to see that an applicant does not have social media accounts?

I'm considering deleting some of my social media accounts, but I'm not sure if it'll do me any good.

no theres no need to delete them. the majority of schools won’t even look at your social media accounts. You may wish to clean them up a bit if you’re concerned, however- delete any photos that don’t show you in the best of light or untag yourself in photos from others.

No, it won’t really make a difference as most schools do not go in depth enough as to search through your social media accounts. In general though, you want to keep them clean (no underage drinking pictures, excessive profanity, racist/sexist/rude comments, ect) as potential employers are more prone to research these things.

That would be a bizarre thing for colleges to prefer or not prefer. They want scholars and thoughtful members of a community – not mindless drones who do their every bidding.
