So...after basically failing my SAT I and doing pretty well on my ACT i decided that i am submitting my ACT...AND i have to submit subject tests. So i know that the colleges im looking at will see my bad SAT I scores and in this case, my bad SAT II scores from june. I am going to study study study and just retake the SUBJECT TESTS...

so my question is, if colleges see a high subject test score next to a low subject test score, and then they see the low SAT score next to the high ACT score....will they hold that against me? They have the right to see all my scores from collegeboard so i am sure it is going to leave an imprint....will it really hurt my chances at a very selective school?

Would you believe me if you told that most colleges look at the highest scores only? They don't make as big a deal over low scores as the students on CC do.

I don't really know, but that is what they all say. And I am hypothesizing that since the colleges themselves are ranked/judged by the scores of their students, it behooves them to "take" the best scores to help their OWN statistics. So, my theory is that the policy of "counting" an applicant's top score isn't done to be nice to the applicants, but to look better themselves.

Also, some colleges say that only a clerical person sees all the original scores and summarizes the best for the actual admissions committee. I guess colleges would differ greatly in whether/how they do this.
