Incoming freshmen need to have a physical (doctor needs to fill out school specific health form) and show proof of required immunizations.

All you really need to do is show proof of immunizations, online or by mail.

Depends on college. Immunizations likely, physicals probably not. I think if you've kept up with the immunizations you need for public school you're fine for most colleges anyway (e.g. at Illinois meningitis is only an optional vaccine, etc.)

Both my son's colleges required proof of a physical and good health, and a meningitis vaccine.

Same here as did all of their college bound friends. Then again, they were all planning to live on campus. Perhaps physicals aren't necessary if you plan on living off campus. To find out the proper information, you should check the specific college's website.

do university of california schools require physicals?

It might be for on-campus students, true.

I know they are very concerned about knowing about immunizations, as there are always huge outbreaks on college campuses with students living in such close quarters.

Get ready to turn your head and cough.

racinreaver, i'm not a guy)))

so the answer is yes?

Look it up for the schools you want to go to. It depends. Illinois didn't require one.

You need proof of immunizations
For my school physicals are only required if you plan on studying abroad or being on an athletic team of some sort.

My school neither requires physicals or proof of immunization. You do need to disclose if you've had certain vaccinations if you live in the dorms. Get the meningitis vaccine regardless!
