i know that you have to eventually send in your first (and second) semester grades. but do colleges consider those grades during the actual admissions process, or is it just to check up on you to make sure you arnt slacking? im not talking about early decision, just regular admissions. most of the deadlines i've seen are from dec 1 to mid-January, with a few on feb 1. but we dont get our first semester grades until the last week of january/first week of february, which is past most of the deadlines. so do they figure to be a big part of the admissions process?

Yeah they look at them, remember decisions are made in March lol.

Through that good old “Mid-year Report”

damn i thought they just evaluated them as they get them

Senior year will represent an entire fourth of your time in high school and is often one of the most rigorous years in terms of college prep. Colleges would be silly to ignore these grades (indeed, I think early admissions are somewhat foolish given that they often ignore senior year grades entirely in the decision). The schools you apply to RD will absolutely have your first semester grades and will factor them into their decision.

shoot. the courses im taking this year are almost all AP’s. what if my grades drop a bit?

^chill out breh. What do you mean by “a bit”?

Like from A+ to B+ or from A+ to C+, assuming you are an A student?

yeah, iv gotten all A’s and A-'s so far. By a bit a mean like down from that to B+'s and (gulp) B’s

As long as it’s not a huge drop, it shouldn’t be that bad especially if you have a more rigorous course load this year. But obviously, it would be best to continue to get A’s even in the tougher courses

yeah im not sure thats gonna be feasible anymore. i just dont want my gpa to drop in the first semester of senior year
