Do colleges still look at ACT scores if you apply later in life?

I am currently in a gap year between High school and College. I'm applying to some universities and was thinking about retaking the ACT and SAT. My scores were decent (25 and 1650) but not spectacular. If I retake the ACT and SAT and get better scores, will colleges still consider them? Or do test scores only matter while still in high school?

Thanks

They would consider any test score you receive before you apply to the university.
So there is always room for improvement.
Good luck.
