Do colleges super score SAT IIs?

I took the SAT subject tests today.

As we all know, they give you four free score reports.

But my problem is, you can’t CHOOSE between the subject test scores, if you send before they come out.

I’m sure I got a good score on the Math test, but I was totally unprepared for the Chemistry test. At an earlier date, I took a Chemistry test where my score was okay.

If I send both sets of scores:

SECOND TEST DATE: Good math score + a bad Chem score.

FIRST TEST DATE: Okay Chem score.

Will colleges see the lower Chem score? Will they care?

Yes they will see the lower score, but they will only consider the higher score. Don’t spend time worrying about this.

The SAT IIs are treated as individual tests as if you took the math on one weekend and the chem another. You can cancel the score report of the chem one if you would like to and neither you nor any college will see it. However you may want to check the curve out or your own intuition first, I took Math II and thought I did poorly but ended up with a 780. Of course, I also chose not to send the scores before taking the test and simply paid the extra $11.
Bottom line, go cancel the score if you are certain you did worse than last time, since even if colleges ignore it, you can be certain.

@bb1313 But I also took the Math test on the same date as the bad Chem. I can cancel the chem without canceling the math?

Yes

Although you may find that you did not score as poorly as you think.

Yes!

@skieurope That form says you can only cancel an individual Math or Language score because of equipment failure. The Chem test doesn’t use any equibment.

So how do I do this?

How? @BB1313 The form says only an individual Math or Language with Listening can be canceled.

How do I cancel the Chem without canceling the math?

Sorry, you’re right. You can’t cancel an individual score from a specific date. But you can choose not to send a particular score.

However, to my earlier point, it’s a lot of work with little benefit. Colleges just will not care about the lower score.

@skieurope

All colleges? Have you been in the office?

Does the computer omit it?

Or do humans see it, and they don’t feel any kind of way about it? Are these humans not the adcom, but the secretaries?

Clearly, how an individual college assembles the application package will vary by college. At my college, little elves in the basement (well, work/study students) assemble a cover sheet which lists only the top scores. The other scores will appear further inside the package, but here is the reality:

Although you will spend hours and hours on the application, an AO will spend, at most, 12-15 minutes reading it. The minutiae that applicants worry about are jsut not though about by the AO’s.
