Do colleges take AP scores into account in regards to admission?

I say this because I'm self studying for many AP tests this year and cannot possibly get 5s on all of them. I can, however, pass every one, getting the minimum requirement for college credit.

Will mediocre AP scores hurt my application next year?

Which colleges?

If you are applying to those schools that are ultra selective and where many of the kids are taking AP classes and tests, what do YOU think if most ot the kids are reporting 4s and 5s on the same exams that you are reporting 3s for? These schools get waaay too many applications for the places they have and they have to eliminate somehow, so yes, any basis to compare is used to cut.

Are you coming from a school that does not have much in the way of APs and how do the kids taking the exams fare on them? THat is all on the school profile that your school will send to each college. YOu might want to take a look at that profile and see where you are on it. It will have the number of kids taking AP coursse, how many courses, exams and the scores on them, among a lot of other information.

Most schools are not going to worry about AP scores, but those schools that do, will take them into consideration For state U or schools that take most of the applicants, no problem. For HPY and other ivies and highly selective schools, looking for ways to cull the herd, of course. Every shred of info will count.
