Do colleges take the higest out of the 2 Tests

Well I'm planning on sending my SAT score of 1850, and my ACT score of 29 to colleges. I was wondering if I send both to they just use the highest of the 2 for admissions or take both into account. And I am planning to send both because some of the colleges I apply to have like 95% students reporting SAT score and I feel it will lower my chances if I don't send them. Any opinions?

Well, I think we can help eachother!

Firstly, if you take the SAT less than 3 times, which you have, colleges usually won’t average out your scores. Depending on the particular college, they will either take the top scores of each section of the SAT to create your best overall score, OR they will use the best overall score of each of your two tests.

Now, a question for you my friend. You are one of the few people in this forum which has nearly the exact same score I am expecting for my SAT (which is in two days). Which colleges are you looking at? I want to go to the NYU film school, but do you think that score will be good enough?

Thanks, and I hope I could help!

Oh wait, it’s your SAT AND AP, whoops.
So, definately send both scores because it won’t hurt your chances. It would make a better impact if they see you took both, than just handing in your SAT. Soz…

If you send both SAT and ACT, college will use for admission that test it believes is the higher. The only exception I am aware of to that is Rose-Hulman which actually superscores the combination of SAT and ACT (it uses math and CR section of SAT and math and English section of ACT; if, for example, it beleives your math SAT is better than your math ACT but your English ACT is better than your math CR, it will use your math SAT and English ACT to determine admission).
