If two applicants had the exact same score, ec's, etc, but one had a 700M and 500CR would they be more likely to get into a school vs. a 500M and a 700CR? Even though it seems harder to get a high CR score?

if it was a tech school, or if you’re applying as a math-based major. but usually, they’d probably be weighted the same.

@ pok3mon3: what about Business majors??? my math score is good but my CR is way below the average =(

b u m p i t y

Not sure, they are probably weighted about the same. From my observations usually the writing section isnt placed too much emphasis on. For example, when calculating your RAI at Iowa they do not consider the writing section as part of the process. This is great for me since the writing section was my lowest score.

It depends on the interests that you convey in your application. If you are planning to major in English Language & Literature and you have the ECs and awards to substantiate this claim, your math will not be heavily weighted. Colleges want one-sided students; if you have an 800CR/500M/800W, you still have a very high chance of being one of the most competitive candidates at any school you choose. However, at a technological institute, the aforementioned score example will just about guarantee a rejection, although a 650CR/800M/650W score will still make you a relatively competitive candidate. Same composite score total, but your interests and awards will decide which section(s) the adcom will evaluate the most closely.

Colleges weigh the Reading to be the highest. The order is Reading then Math then writing.
