At your Columbia interview will they ever comment on or try to talk to you in depth about one of the books you mentioned in your application? I haven't read some of them in a long time and I don't want to look stupid not being able to talk about a book I put on my application. Thanks so much everyone!

there’s no set of questions that will be asked. If it comes up, they might say: “tell me about an interesting book”

Your interviewer has no idea what you’ve submitted – they see nothing of your application materials.

Oh okay! I thought since Columbia doesn’t let you schedule interviews until after you submit your Common App and supplements, they wanted the interviewers to read it or something. One more question, I don’t get my ACT scores back until mid November and I heard if you schedule your interview that late you won’t get one until around late January February… is that true?

No. They have limited resources and don’t want to schedule kids who end up with incomplete files.

Columbia will contact you once your application is submitted. When is solely dependent on the # of alum volunteers in your area. It’s not dependent on other documents (rec letters, score reports, etc.) arriving. In fact, you might not get interviewed at all. But it won’t affect your ultimate evaluation. ALthough for Brown, the info basically applies to Columbia too http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/brown-university/810532-brown-interview-faq-answers.html

Thank you so much! You were a huge help
