Do Community College classes count for major?

Hey CC,

I am a freshman interested in MCB.

I have emailed their advising office, but they have not responded yet.

So, I am planning on taking the equivalent of Chem 3b at my community college (I feel like I am falling behind on the pre-reqs), so my question is, does the class count towards my intended major? Or do I HAVE TO take it at Cal in order to count? I already checked the equivalent class on assist.org and I know that cc classes are not factored into the UC transcript, but they do appear on it. So, has anyone done this before? It does not have to be specific to MCB.

Thanks!!

anyone has any ideas?

L&S form for taking courses at a community college: http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/fp/ConcurrentEnrollment.pdf

MCB handbook: http://mcb.berkeley.edu/undergrad/images/stories/forms/handbook/mcbhandbook.pdf

The MCB handbook indicates that community college courses are accepted for transfer students, but is silent on the subject for those who entered as freshmen.

at one point I was planning on taking Chem 3A/L at a CC and IB said I could, doubt MCB would be any different.
