<p>you don't have to live in the honors dorms if you're in honors, therefore they probably wouldn't have your friend transfer dorms. if a spot opened up in an honors dorm and he was willing to move, they would definitely let him but it wouldnt' be required.</p>
<p>keep a good GPA and you should have no problem getting into honors once you're at maryland. (actual requirements are on their webpage.) you aren't "transferring in" to the honors program, you're just joining it. so logistically, it isn't hard at all, just apply and hear back.</p>
