My son will be staying on the Mount Vernon campus this summer to attend a summer program and we're wondering if we need to bring a fan. Is there air conditioning in the dorms?

I believe they all do - but I know for sure that Somers does.

All the ones I have been in do. Try and get your son off the Vern if you can though.

^Why do you say that?

Because it will be serious blow to your social life. And well the Vern Express can be rather irritating. Some people I have talked to loved it, but most have hated the experience. If it were a little larger I think it would be nice, but it's a little too desolate for my liking.

The OP said her son was staying there for a summer program - he probably doesn't have a choice, especially if he is a high school student.

Ah, I'm sorry about that. For just the summer it's actually quite quaint (my friend is living there right now). He'll probably enjoy himself.

plus there's a nice swimming pool on the vern -- a definite bonus in the dc heat. (I'd be shocked if every dorm there didn't have AC)

Thanks for the replies.
